When
you join MobileMe, you get a me.com email account that's always up to
date and in sync, no matter where you check it. MobileMe constantly
looks for new messages, so you don't have to. They're pushed to your
iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch automatically, and you're notified as soon

You'll also notice that the inbox on your iPhone
or iPad looks a lot like the inbox on your Mac or PC. That's because it

Display a message or play a sound to help you find it.
Say
you've just used the Find My iPhone feature, and it turns out you left
your iPhone or iPad at the doctor's office. Not to worry. You can write a
message that will be displayed on your iPhone or iPad. Something like,
"Oops, left my iPhone behind. Please call me at 408-999-9999." Your
message appears on the screen, even if it's locked. And if the map shows
you that your iPhone or iPad is nearby--say, at home under a pile of
laundry--yet you still can't find it, you can tell MobileMe to play a
sound that overrides the ringer volume or silent setting on your device.
Set a passcode lock remotely.
Once
you realize you haven't simply misplaced your iPhone or iPad at home,
you may want to protect its contents until it's safely back in your
hands. Sign in to your MobileMe account and remotely set a four-digit
passcode lock to prevent people from using your iPhone or iPad,
accessing your personal information, or tampering with your settings.
Protect your privacy with Remote Wipe.
Addresses,
phone numbers, email, photos. Your iPhone or iPad contains important
and personal information--information you probably don't want in the
hands of a stranger. So if you lose your iPhone or iPad and displaying a

remote wipe to restore it to the factory settings. If you eventually

This has been an excellent product for me to sync address and
calendar across 3 ipod touches, i pad, 2 macbook pros, 1 PC, as well as
the mobileme website. I just change the information in one device and
as soon as it has internet connection, it updates across all devices.
Gone are the days where i am plugging in my phone to sync my calendar.
And gone are the days where i forget to do a sync and therefore miss an
appointment because I am looking at the wrong calendar.
I have multiple calendars set up within the calendar so that i have
one for each family member and personal things. on any of the devices, i
can turn off one or more of the calendars so i dont' have to see them
all.
You can also mobile me to save things like pictures, files, etc to
the mobileme "cloud", which can work as a back up---or, more commonly,
be a way to share the pictures or documents you have with others--even
those who don't have mobile me.
The "find your phone or ipad feature" can be a lifesaver. If the
feature is turned on on your device, you can get find exactly where it
is located. You can also send a message to the screen if someone finds
it. One great message to send, that can freak someone out if they stole
it is to type the exact address where they are located so it comes on
the screen. my friend did this and the "thiefs" then returned it to the
lost and found at the airport later that day. You can also use it to
wipe out your data on the phone, touch, or ipad so that other people
can't have access to it.
you also get a mailbox, but i personally don't use that.
you can almost always purchase this cheaper on amazon than through
apple. You can also still purchase the older version, sometimes at a
reduced cost. The products are the same and you will have the exact
same functioning as all you really get is a key code to work the mobile
me website.
I highly recommend this---you will love the amount of time and
hassle you save. And your family will love that you can send them a
link to view photos or files.
recently, i have been uploading things to the idisc feature--word
documents and files and it is great as each member can access the idisc
information, change it--and it changes it on the idisc and the computer
at the idisc icon. this saves us from sending a lot of emails back and
forth and getting confused about the most updated version.
